DESCRIPTION:The Parks and Recreation Commission works with City staff in matters pertaining to parks, recreation areas, facilities, programs, and other associated activities, and cooperates with other governmental agencies and civic groups in the advancement of sound park and recreation planning and programming. Meetings are open to the public and held on the second Monday of each odd-numbered month at 7 PM in the Duarte Community Center. Of the five members, one shall not be required to be a resident of the City but shall be a candidate nominated or recommended by the Duarte Unified School District. The four remaining members shall be residents of the City. One of the four required resident members may be a person who is a senior citizen who has been a user of one or more programs at the Duarte Senior Center but is not a resident of the City.
