The City of Duarte is now fully serviced by Pasadena Humane. As of July 1, 2026, Pasadena Humane provides animal control and sheltering services for Duarte residents.
Pasadena Humane offers a full range of animal services, including 24/7 general assistance and emergency support, animal sheltering, wildlife support, pet adoptions, low-cost vaccines & spay/neuter, along with owner assistance programs. Pasadena Humane is located at 361 S. Raymond Ave., Pasadena, CA 91105. They are open Monday through Sunday, 9:30 AM to 5:30 PM. During the first year of this transition, from July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027, animal licensing will continue to be handled by the City of Duarte. Animal licenses are still required, and residents should continue to renew or obtain them through the City during this period. Licenses may be purchased at the Duarte Public Safety Department located at 1042 Huntington Dr., Duarte, CA 91010, Monday-Thursday 7:30 AM to 6 PM and Friday-Saturday 7:30 AM to 4 PM. Licenses may also be purchased at Duarte City Hall, located at 1600 Huntington Dr., Duarte, CA 91010, Monday-Thursday 7:30 AM to 4 PM.
To complete the licensing process, you must provide:
- A valid rabies vaccination certificate (valid through June 2027)
- A spay/neuter certificate to qualify for the altered rate
- Proof of age for senior discount eligibility
Dog License Fee Schedule:
- Unaltered-$80.00
- Altered-$30.00
- Senior Citizen (Age 65)-$10.00 Limited to one altered dog per household
An $80.00 penalty will be applied as of September 1, 2026. Senior penalty is $20.00.
Dog License Fee Schedule with Penalties:
- Unaltered-$160.00
- Altered-$110.00
- Senior Citizen (Age 65)-$30.00
Beginning July 1, 2027, animal licensing will transition to Pasadena Humane through its DocuPet licensing program. Additional information will be shared with residents before each phase of the transition.
