Dog Licenses
All dogs over the age of 4 months are required to be licensed.
Purchase In-Person
Dog licenses may be purchased in-person at two locations, Monday-Thursday, 7:30 AM to 6 PM:

The Public Safety Office is also open on Friday and Saturday, 7:30 AM to 4 PM.
Purchase By Mail
Licenses may also be purchased by mail. If registering by mail, please send a valid rabies certificate for the entire licensing period (July 2025-June 2026) and if appropriate, a valid sterilization certificate for spayed or neutered animals and the appropriate license fee (no cash; see fee schedule below) to:

Check or money order made payable to City of Duarte. Your documents and new dog license and dog tag will be mailed back to you.
Dog License Fee Schedule

Unaltered Dog: $80.00

Altered Dog: $30.00

Senior Altered Dog (age 65): $10.00 Limited to one dog per household
Dog Licenses must be purchased by August 31st of every year to avoid being charged a $80.00 penalty. Rates including penalty after August 31st are as follows:

Cats
Although cats are not required to have licenses in Duarte, cat owners may purchase a license to help ensure the return of your furry friend should it become lost. Cat license fees are $25.00 if altered, and $45.00 for unaltered cats.
