ALL FIREWORKS ARE PROHIBITED IN DUARTE, INCLUDING “SAFE AND SANE”!

Per Duarte Municipal Code Section 15.05.030, the sale, possession, or use of any fireworks, safe and sane or dangerous, is strictly prohibited within city limits, unless expressly permitted by law.  DMC 15.05.030

Possession Means Penalty

Safe and Sane Fireworks: Possession with the intent to use or discharge is illegal. Intent is determined by factors such as time and location, presence of ignition sources, evidence of past use, or prior violations.

Dangerous Fireworks: All possession, use, or sale is banned. No exceptions.

Property Owners Beware: Allowing others to discharge fireworks on your property is a strict liability offense, you can be cited, even if you weren’t aware.

Enhanced Enforcement for July 4th
To ensure the safety of our community, the Duarte Public Safety Department, in partnership with the L.A. County Sheriff's Department, will be deploying additional deputies in the days and nights leading up to Independence Day. Officers will be patrolling in both marked and unmarked vehicles, and in uniform and plain clothes.

Fines for Violations
$1,000 – for possession or use of safe and sane fireworks

$1,500 to $10,000 – for possession or use of dangerous fireworks
